This person will be the point of contact for local, state, and federal projects, interface with clients and employees to track design progress throughout the life of the project. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: Scheduling, Employee engagement, producing Cost Effective designs on time and under budget, and Evaluate Quality of Performance. JSE provides design services on typical and complex bridge projects for just about every type of bridge imaginable. The below is a summary but not complete listing of work specifications:


Job Description:

  • Design-Build and P3 projects
  • Act as team lead on bridge design projects (as required)
  • Perform / review bridge designs.
  • Proficiency with AutoCad, Civil 3-D, MicroStation, BIM, Leap Bridge, Merlin Dash/MDX, Load Rating Software, MathCAD, and other structural analysis software.
  • Work with CAD technicians to develop bridge plans and submittals.
  • Prepare cost estimates.
  • Follow state design standards and guidelines for developing projects.
  • Coordinate with other design team members.
  • Direct and mentor junior engineers in the preparation of calculations, plans, specifications, technical reports, and cost estimates
  • Travel (as required)


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Professional Engineering License (Required)
  • Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural engineering (Required)
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience
  • Design-Build and P3 knowledge preferred
  • Experience with AutoCad, Civil 3-D, MicroStation, BIM, Leap Bridge, Merlin Dash/MDX, Load Rating Software, MathCAD, and other structural analysis software.
  • Hands-on experience in all aspects of bridge design projects (including computer structure modeling)
  • In depth knowledge of DOT and AASHTO standards
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills and capability to work autonomously and in a team environment
  • Department of Transportation project experience (Preferred)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to identify and manage risk
  • Previous structural modeling experience
  • Ability to establish, influence, and maintain relationships with key partners
