Test Engineer

A global automotive company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Test Engineer to join their Vehicle Dynamics Controls Development (VCPD) department. This role focuses on the development and testing of brake control systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in test engineering, diagnostic tools, and hands-on mechanical skills, ensuring the brake control systems meet design acceptance criteria and performance targets.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute test plans and procedures for brake control systems, ensuring parts/components meet design acceptance criteria, performance level targets, and regulatory/internal standards.
Utilize diagnostic tools such as CANalyzer and Canopy to conduct and analyze tests, with an emphasis on creating data settings, test specifications, and schedules.
Prepare and set up test equipment, conduct moderately complex tests, and document/summarize test results and conclusions.
Verify testing accuracy and thoroughness, determine if additional testing is needed, and provide detailed analysis and interpretation of test results.
Predict performance and potential failures, providing necessary product/design data and identifying issues/developing countermeasures.
Communicate test results clearly through written reports and formal presentations, proposing design changes and recommending countermeasures based on analysis of testing results.
Collaborate closely with project PICs and various internal teams, especially ADAS groups, to coordinate software updates and system integrations.
Perform hands-on mechanical tasks such as swapping parts, harness replacement, and vehicle component assembly/disassembly.
Travel occasionally for specific testing needs, such as cold weather testing, with an estimated travel requirement of 5-10% annually.
Required Skillset:
5+ years of test engineering experience.
Proficiency in diagnostic tools such as CANalyzer and Canopy. Experience with supplier-specific tools (e.g., Bosch, Continental) is a plus.
Strong hands-on mechanical skills, comfortable working directly with vehicle components.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to predict performance and identify potential failures.
Strong communication skills for effectively presenting test results and proposed changes.
Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
High attention to detail and commitment to ensuring testing accuracy and thoroughness.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Bonus Skillset:
Previous experience in an R&D environment.
Location: Raymond, OH (Onsite).
Type: Contract
Duration: 12 months with a possibility of a 12-month extension
