DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Records Specialist 1, you will maintain accurate and up-to-date DC-15 master files. To meet this goal, you will analyze court documents to create or revise sentence structures and sentence calculations, as well as review time periods identified as commitment credit to determine if the credit is legal and should be applied. Part of reviewing time periods will also require you to revise sentence calculations when changes are made by the court or Probation and Parole Board. Attention to detail and confidentiality are crucial because you will also update and review inmate criminal histories, conduct one-on-one interviews with inmates for various reasons, and communicate with various criminal justice agencies regarding inmates.

Another key component of your work will be to scrutinize inmate cases on your caseload prior to their release to ensure that the release is legal, timely, and that the inmate has met all requirements for release. You will also register and fingerprint sex offenders under Megan's Law and fingerprint parole violators.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary:For employees that are new to Commonwealth, the starting salary will be $39,785.00

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of clerical or correctional custodial experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
