What to Expect The team is seeking a Polymer Materials Engineer to focus on the fundamental, first principles relationships between paint materials, processes, and appearance. This position will align our paint materials development efforts with future paint manufacturing and process strategies. What You’ll Do Fill the role as our subject matter expert for paint systems processing and optimization Support on-going material application processes for metal pre‑treatment, e‑coat, top‑coat, and powder coats both within Tesla and at vendors Provide technical support to the quality and manufacturing teams with respect to processing issues Support process validation for all new coating processes Establish first principles relationships between every process stop and final paint appearance Work with suppliers and Tesla manufacturing teams to develop new paint processing technologies that reduce energy consumption, capital equipment expenses, and floor space requirements.
