Who you are:
As a Utilization Management Intake Coordinator for Johns Hopkins Health Plans, you are the first point of contact in the Utilization Management referral/authorization process. You like following contract guidelines, you appreciate rules, and understand their importance when it comes to the referral and/or authorization process. And even though you aren’t on the phone (this is not a customer facing role), you appreciate how your work affects our member’s lives.
What you’ll do:
- Receive (via fax) and process referrals and authorizations
- Coordinate and manage the referral and/or authorization process for all insurance lines, in accordance with benefit contract guidelines and criteria
- Assist in resolving claims related issues
- Assist with internal and external mail, and other administrative duties as assigned.
What you’ll bring:
- 1+ years’ experience as an Intake Coordinator I with JHHP or 2+ years' experience in an intake support and/or customer service role in a managed care organization.
- Knowledge of the referral and authorization process as well as the daily activities of an intake unit.
- Knowledge of ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT coding.
- Requires knowledge of behavioral health and medical terminology.
- High school diploma or GED is required.

Target Salary Range: Minimum 19.00 per visit - Maximum $ per visit. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
