Location: Vernon Hills, IL Pay Range: $100,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr Job Type: Full-time Seniority Level: Mid‑Senior level Job Function: Other Industry: Civil Engineering How you will make an impact The Senior Planner will report to the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager and will be in charge of leading a new planning initiative at GHA. This role is an exempt, salary position and offers a hybrid work environment. Responsibilities Collaborate with the Division Director to shape and expand the firm's offerings, market presence, and revenue. Coordinate directly with clients and internal teams to ensure successful delivery of projects on time and within budget while meeting technical requirements and regulatory standards. Support proposal development, pursuit strategies, and relationship-building with clients and consultant partners. Identify new business opportunities by maintaining relationships with existing clients and pursuing strategic new partnerships. Represent GHA at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to raise visibility and strengthen professional connections. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, supporting a hybrid work environment and helping build team training programs. What you will bring to Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. Education Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Urban Planning & Policy, Urban Design, Community Development, or Landscape Architecture from an accredited college/university. Experience Valid driver’s license and registered insured personal vehicle. 10‑12 years of planning experience, including at least 4 years in a managerial role. Experience with park district and municipal planning preferred. American Institute of Certified Planners certification a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Self‑motivated individual looking to take the next step in their career. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills. Capability to facilitate meetings and focus groups. Proficiency in Adobe Suite and other graphic processing programs preferred. Experience in project management and leading a team. Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage complex projects. ADA Specifications May require occasional bending and lifting up to 50 pounds. May require periodic travel up to 30%.
