About 1X We’re an AI and robotics company based in Palo Alto, California, on a mission to build a truly abundant society through general-purpose robots capable of performing any kind of work autonomously. We believe that to truly understand the world and grow in intelligence, humanoid robots must live and learn alongside us. That’s why we’re focused on developing friendly home robots designed to integrate seamlessly into everyday life. We’re looking for curious, driven, and passionate people who want to help shape the future of robotics and AI. If this mission excites you, we’d be thrilled to hear from you and explore how you might contribute to our journey. Role Overview At 1X, we are building humanoid robots that will take on the hardest real-world problems. This is not incremental engineering—it is high-stakes, first-principles design. Our team is small, flat, and relentlessly driven. We move fast, break down barriers, and expect every engineer to own entire systems end-to-end. Strong communication and a hands‑on mindset are essential. As a Hardcore Electrical Engineer, you will push the boundaries of what’s possible in robotics. You’ll design and integrate electrical systems that operate at the edge of performance, reliability, and manufacturability—ensuring that every component, layout, and system meets the demands of advanced humanoid robotics. Responsibilities Architect power electronics and distribution for high-actuation, high-density humanoid robots Design advanced PCB layouts for sensing, actuation, and compute modules under extreme constraints Build real-time embedded systems using microcontrollers and high-speed digital interfaces Debug, characterize, and optimize across thermal, EMI, and signal‑integrity domains Develop rapid prototypes, validation rigs, and custom tools to accelerate iteration Collaborate closely with mechanical, software, and AI teams to bring robots to life Requirements Extensive experience in electrical system design for robotics, consumer electronics, or similarly demanding fields Deep understanding of power electronics, signal integrity, and mixed‑signal circuit design Hands‑on experience debugging and validating hardware (use of oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.) Experience designing under constraints (size, weight, power, thermal, etc.) History of successfully moving from prototyping to production with high reliability Strong ability to optimize trade‑offs between performance, manufacturability, cost, and reliability Comfort working fast‑paced environments with tight timelines and high technical complexity Excellent communication and teamwork, especially across hardware, mechanical, and software domains Benefits & Compensation Salary Range: $160,000 – $250,000 Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Equal Opportunity Employer 1X is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, marital status, medical condition, genetic information, disability, military or veteran status, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state, or local law. #J-18808-Ljbffr
