  • Assists staff with handling all incoming and outgoing mail from Post Office, county offices and the public.
  • Provides support to Mail Center Supervisor as needed.
  • Processes numerous accountable pieces of mail requiring extra handling such as express, registered, certified, etc.
  • Packages, seals, weights and posts various correspondence that varies in size and weight.
  • Assists in scheduling of additional services, such as copying, folding, tabbing, stuffing and labeling envelopes and shredding materials for county departments.
  • Provides information not commonly known to customers regarding the venues of sending correspondence.
  • Assists, enters, and maintains data needed by Supervisor for reports and budgeting.
  • Keeps records of all trackable data for future reference.
  • Assists county personnel and public with questions regarding mail and shipping.
  • Provides customer service on phone and in person regarding complaints regarding services.
  • Assists with payroll, accounts payable, ordering supplies, and collecting data for budget process as needed.
  • Participates in making daily mail runs to offsite facilities to retrieve and deliver mail.
  • Prepares Mail Clerk schedule for daily mail runs.
  • Assists with training of new Mail Clerks, especially mail runs.
  • Checks mail boxes and mail trays for errors throughout the day.
  • Creates outgoing courier labels online.
  • Daily use of Mail Center equipment and software.
  • Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 3 years of Supervisory experience preferred.
  • 1 year job related experience; mail room experience preferred.
  • Must have ability to type and create documents, spreadsheets, and notices.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to comprehend.
  • Possess organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with others.
  • The ability to execute department policy.
  • Valid Texas driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance.
  • Must take a defensive driving course every 3 years.
  • Availability to work on Saturday for Special Election mail.


STARTING SALARY RANGE: $17.95 - $22.44 hourly based on qualifications

CLOSING DATE: Upon filling position
