TIESNA GA is based in Pendergrass, Georgia. This position is on-site at TACG 1000 Valentine industrial Parkway, Pendergrass GA 30567.
Department Purpose:
The logistics department serves as the lifeline of Toyota Industries Group, facilitating the seamless movement of goods and services from suppliers to end consumers. It plays a crucial role in streamlining supply chain operations, optimizing inventory management, and ensuring timely deliveries.
Position Purpose:
Effectively lead Logistics Department to execute daily operations and apply TPS, 5S, JIT and other Lean Manufacturing methods under a continuous kaizen philosophy.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise the status of department specific activities and prioritize tasks to meet or exceed customer quality expectations, delivered in a timely manner.
- Apply world-class, Toyota Production System (TPS) methodologies to all manufacturing/logistics operations.
- Assist in maintaining the Kanban system to maintain inventory levels for Just-In-Time (JIT) manufacturing processes by supervising inventory counts and reconciling data with inventory control system.
- Promote continuous kaizen to constantly reduce cost.
- Achieve financial objectives by assisting by input on an annual budget, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
- Check standardized work and promote activities that raise awareness of safety, health, and environmental compliance.
- Practice and encourage two-way communication in the department between all levels of associates.
- Cultivate an atmosphere that fosters development of Logistics Associates.
- Manage the 5S program as it applies to the Logistics department including maintenance of the physical condition of the warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts, inspecting equipment, issuing work orders for repair, and submitting requisitions for replacement.
- Assist in evaluating equipment maintenance requirements and develop preventative maintenance schedules.
- Collect, analyze, and evaluate information, communicate logistics or quality issues to the appropriate Quality or Production team members and apply necessary countermeasures.
- Ensure thorough understanding and implementation of workplace rules and regulations.
- Mentor junior level staff in leadership ideals and practices by promoting and maintaining activities to develop and improve skills.
- Assist members to ensure all quality and procedure related documentation is kept current and controlled.
- Ensure a safe and environmentally friendly work environment by performing job duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines including OSHA and EPA.
- Follow all aspects of the site Environmental Policy as it pertains to normal job duties.
- Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements.
- Complies with all company policies and procedures.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education, Experience, & Abilities:
- Bachelor degree in Business, Logistics, or related field preferred with 7+ years related work experience in a fast-paced manufacturing and/or warehouse environment is required. Proficient in operations of warehouse equipment (i.e. lift trucks, pallet jacks, etc.) is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in logistics and inventory control capabilities of ERP systems is required.
- Working knowledge of Kanban system processes is preferred.
- Ability to understand and apply Lean Manufacturing/JIT concepts.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural, team oriented environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Physical Requirements
- The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move at least 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
