Mainframe Storage Engineer

Sr. Delivery Lead / Client Relations / Talent Acquisition Location: Baltimore, MD – 5 days Onsite (Need local candidates only) Type: Contract Duration: Long term Experience: 8+ Years Description of Work: z/OS, Time Sharing Option, Data Domain, Dell EMC DLm8500 systems, ISPF, InsightIQ, technical writing and Ansible playbooks Lead efforts in developing new strategies for operational efficiencies Work with applications teams and stakeholders as the platform technical lead Work with highly experienced and technical resources Assist technical leads in implementing systems and software updates Document processes, procedures and configurations Perform daily operations support functions, including problem isolation and resolution Provide status updates of task and project updates Provide system administration support Troubleshoot platform and application issues All other duties as assigned or directed. Basic Qualifications: Minimum knowledge, skills, abilities needed. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field 7 years of experience or more as a Mainframe Storage Engineer. 7 years of experience with problem monitoring and engineering problem resolutions on virtual tape architectures. 5 years of experience with Dell/EMC, VSM, VLE and ZFS Virtual tape Libraries. 5 years of experience with IBM Job Control Language (JCL). 4 years of experience with CA-1 Tape Management System (TMS) and CA Vantage. 4 years of experience supporting Disaster Recovery planning, testing, monitoring and restoration for virtual tape storage systems 3 years of experience designing and building Storage Management System (SMS). 2 years of experience using Data Domain Management Center (DDMC) 2 years of experience using Time Sharing Option (TSO) on mainframe systems 2 years of experience with Interactive System Productivity Facility (ISPF). Expertise in the Linux command-line environment Knowledge of z/OS. Experience using Time Sharing Option (TSO). Experience with Data Domain. Experience with Dell EMC DLm8500 systems. Experience with ISPF. Experience with InsightIQ Ability to produce operational documentation using industry best practices in technical writing. Ability to gather process requirements to automate into Ansible playbooks Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Public Trust clearance. Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these skills will be given preferential consideration. Demonstrated experience growing, maintaining, problem monitoring and engineer problem resolutions on virtual tape architectures. Experience with Cyber Recovery on virtual tape systems Demonstrated experience designing, installing, configuring, provisioning, and deploying storage hardware used in a multi-node storage architecture. Experience developing best practice project plans, engineering scripts, and documentation needed to migrate workloads to virtual tape.
