Pulmonologist (COPD/Airways Disease Investigator) - The University of Kansas Health System

The University of Kansas Health System, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonology and Critical Care, is seeking a dedicated COPD/Airways Disease Investigator to join our team at a prestigious tertiary care teaching hospital. The successful candidate will contribute at least 50% of their time to research through clinical trials, translational research, implementation science research and other acceptable methods as outlined for University faculty.
Key Responsibilities:
Research and Development:
- Establish a Centers for Excellence Program for COPD/Airways Disease at The University of Kansas Health System
- Seek extramural/intramural funds to support research and scholarship activities
- Contribute to research through clinical trials, translational research, implementation science and other acceptable methods
Medical Care:
- Provide medical care to pulmonary patients, including inpatient service and ambulatory clinics
Teaching and Instruction:
- Instruct and demonstrate appropriate medical and research techniques to medical students, residents, and fellows
- Participate in Department and Division educational activities
Mission Support:
- Support the mission of delivering the highest quality of care
- Fulfill teaching, research, and academic responsibilities

Required Qualifications:
- MD/DO or equivalent
- Satisfactory completion of an Internal Medicine residency and Pulmonary Medicine fellowship from an ACGME accredited program, with board certification/board eligibility in Pulmonary Diseases
- In the field of COPD or Airways Disease, proven track record in clinical or translational research
- Experience in providing comprehensive pulmonary care
- Strong commitment to education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows
- Ability to secure research funding
- Eligible for licensure in Kansas and Missouri
