Lead Counsel, Employment Ironclad is the leading contract lifecycle management platform that enables fast, data‑driven contracting. Role Description Lead Counsel for Employment will serve as the primary advisor on all employment‑law matters, ensuring legal compliance while supporting Ironclad’s rapid growth and global expansion. Working with the Senior Director, Corporate & Employment and the People Team, you will guide HR policy, employee relations, investigations, and compliance initiatives. Hybrid: based in San Francisco; attend in‑office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with additional days for events. Responsibilities First point of contact for the People Team on employment matters. Develop and enforce enterprise policies and scalable processes for the employment life cycle. Serve as trusted advisor to senior leadership on legal trends, investigations, and personnel issues. Deliver training programs on employment‑law best practices. Lead the employment‑law team for international expansion and corporate initiatives. Advise on AI‑informed recruiting/hiring, compliance, and other employment processes. Contribute to Ironclad’s global compliance program. Assist the Legal team on other matters as workload allows. Qualifications JD from an accredited law school and admission to the California Bar. 9+ years of legal experience, 3+ years in‑house at a high‑growth tech company. Proven expertise in employment law, including employee relations, leave administration, pay equity, investigations, and policy development. Business‑focused mindset, excellent judgment, high integrity, and strong prioritization skills. Exceptional communication and partner‑building abilities. Clear, pragmatic advice aligned with business objectives. Experience managing large, cross‑functional programs and change management. Knowledge of modern Legal‑Tech stack and ecosystem.
