Pending PALT Approval The Senior Director provides strategic leadership and oversight for Pasco-Hernando State College’s (PHSC) charter school sponsorship and authorizing efforts, as well as early college or similar k-12 innovative programs. The Senior Director ensures that all charter schools under PHSC’s sponsorship uphold the college’s mission of academic excellence, high standards for academic achievement, and innovation. This position is responsible for maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations, fostering high academic and operational standards, and leading initiatives that enhance student outcomes and community partnerships. The Senior Director supervises staff supporting charter school sponsorship activities and serves as the primary liaison between PHSC, its charter schools, school district partners, and state education agencies. Duties and responsibilities of the Senior Director fall into the categories below. Leadership and Strategic Oversight Develops, implements, and evaluates the mission, vision, and strategic goals of PHSC’s charter school sponsorship and authorizing portfolio. Serves as the college’s primary representative for charter school relations with the Florida Department of Education, local school districts, and community partners. Provides leadership, direction, and supervision to the other charter sponsorship staff and early college/innovative school program team members. Ensures all charter school operations and governance align with college policies, accreditation standards, and authorizing best practices. Advises the college leadership, including the Vice President for Academic Affairs/Chief Academic Officer, and President on charter/early college/innovative school performance, compliance, and expansion opportunities. Leads the development of annual reports, performance dashboards, and presentations to PHSC leadership and the District Board of Trustees. Academic Quality and Instructional Accountability Oversees academic quality standards across all sponsored schools, ensuring rigorous, data-driven instructional practices. Guides schools in aligning curriculum and instruction with state standards and college readiness benchmarks. Monitors school performance through site visits, academic reports, and improvement plans. Promotes innovative learning models, dual enrollment integration, and Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways. Student Outcomes and College Integration Leads initiatives that strengthen connections between sponsored schools and PHSC programs to expand access to postsecondary opportunities. Oversees accountability for student performance metrics, including academic achievement, graduation rates, and college matriculation. Promotes a culture of student-centered decision making and continuous improvement. Operations, Compliance, and Facilities Management Ensures compliance with all state and federal laws governing sponsored schools and authorizers, including financial oversight, safety, and reporting mandates. Collaborates with college departments to coordinate facilities support, resource allocation, and security (including liaison with PHSC Campus Safety/Security team and the Office of Safe Schools). Oversees fiscal accountability of sponsored schools to ensure responsible management of public funds. Directs the review, renewal, and potential expansion of charter and sponsored schools contracts in alignment with institutional priorities. Education Requirements / Qualifications Masters Degree or Doctorate Degree in Education and at least five years of progressively responsible experience in school or district leadership, authorizing, or charter school management. Consideration will be given to individuals with a combination of experience and degree(s) that reflect transferable skills to ensure satisfaction of the essential job skills identified in this description. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Strong Leadership skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment. Strong analytical skills. Computer proficiency and technical aptitude. Comfortable with Microsoft products (to include Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word). Knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations/statutes. Excellent communication (both oral and written) and organization skills. Ability to maintain valid Florida driver’s license and reliable transportation.
