To support our growth we’re looking for a Recipe Specialist to join our awesome team As part of the Central Development Kitchen Team, the Recipe Specialist supports the Compass at Google culinary team documenting recipes. The Recipe Specialist works side-by-side with the R&D Chefs recording their every move and measurement as the chefs test recipes. Though there is no cooking involved, the role is best suited for former chefs who know their way around a kitchen and have previously developed excellent recipe writing and editing skills. Communication skills and a keen knack for details and observation are also a must.

The great things you’ll do

• Serve as recipe tester following Standard Operating Procedure to accurately record all recipe template components with attention to detail.
• Serve as first level editor for recipes following prescribed deadlines and guidelines while using culinary knowledge and experience and critical thinking and logic to make conscientious edits
• Master recipe database system and organization, including Prime Index creation and maintenance of recipes and menus in Sheets database
• Responsible for entering recipes into database with accuracy and according to standardization guidelines
• Perform quality work with or without direct supervision
• Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments
• Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating
• Provide support directly to chefs regarding database usage and recipe testing procedures

What we look for in the great candidate

• Minimum one year recipe writing and editing experience following a specific style guide
• Deep knowledge of food and cooking technique
• Culinary experience both in education and hands-on (back of house)
• Must have strong interpersonal skills that allow you to interface and grow positive working relationships with colleagues at all levels of Chefs and Staff
• Must be creative thinker, with demonstrated excellent follow-through
• Demonstrate acute attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
• Outstanding communication skills (oral, written, presentation, listening, note-taking)
• Ability to prioritize workload and respond quickly to time-sensitive requests
• Strong planning and coordination skills to work with multiple priorities
• Demonstrate problem-solving skills while working independently
• Proficient in using Google products including: hangouts, gmail, calendar, docs, spreadsheets, and sites
• Experience using some non-specific PC-based products
• Flexible, proactive, responsible, detail-oriented
