Job DescriptionJob Description

We are looking for a skilled CNC Operator with experience in wood manufacturing to join our shop. The CNC Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC machines to produce precision wood components according to specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of woodworking techniques, CNC programming, and the ability to troubleshoot and maintain CNC equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate CNC machines to produce wood components based on technical drawings and specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD designs to determine cutting paths and machine setup.
  • Program CNC machines, input control instructions into the machine, and select appropriate tools and materials.
  • Ensure precision and accuracy of cuts, maintaining quality standards throughout the production process.
  • Monitor machine operations, making adjustments as needed to improve efficiency and output.
  • Conduct routine machine maintenance, including cleaning and minor repairs, to keep equipment in optimal working condition.
  • Inspect finished wood components for defects and ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Collaborate with shop supervisors and team members to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a CNC operator in a wood manufacturing or woodworking environment.
  • Strong understanding of woodworking techniques and materials, including knowledge of different types of wood.
  • Experience with CNC programming and CAD/CAM software (e.g., AutoCAD, or similar programs).
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills for machine setup and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with machine tools, CNC routers, lathes, and other woodworking equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision in working with materials and machinery.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, technical certification in CNC operation or machining is a plus.

Work Environment:

  • Full-time position in a wood shop or manufacturing facility.
  • Frequent standing and operating machinery.
  • Exposure to dust, noise, and woodworking materials.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and dust masks.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
