Job Summary: The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Downtown Portland is seeking a talented and dedicated Line Chef to join our culinary team. The Line Chef will be responsible for preparing high-quality dishes in a timely manner, following the kitchen’s recipes and specifications. This role requires a passion for cooking, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation:

Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with established recipes and standards. Ensure that all dishes are prepared and presented in a consistent and appealing manner. Follow portion control guidelines and minimize waste.

Station Management:

Set up and stock stations with necessary supplies before service begins. Maintain a clean and organized workstation throughout the shift. Ensure all food items are stored properly and in compliance with food safety standards.

Quality Control:

Monitor food quality and presentation to ensure that dishes meet the hotel's standards. Assist with the daily preparation and production of menu items. Perform regular quality checks to ensure freshness and proper seasoning.

Collaboration:

Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service. Communicate effectively with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and other team members. Assist with the training of new kitchen staff as needed.

Safety and Sanitation:

Adhere to all health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe and clean working environment. Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures. Ensure that kitchen equipment is maintained and report any malfunctions to the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.

Additional Duties:

Participate in kitchen meetings and training sessions. Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or Sous Chef.

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a Line Chef, Cook, or similar role in a high-volume kitchen. Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and food safety standards. Excellent time management skills and the ability to work efficiently under pressure. Strong communication and teamwork skills. A positive attitude and a commitment to providing high-quality food and service. Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred but not required. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
