Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medication Aide to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe administration of medications to patients in various care settings, including acute care, hospice care, and memory care facilities. This position requires a strong understanding of medical documentation and anatomy, as well as experience with electronic health record systems such as Cerner and Epic.

Shift Details: 12 hour nights; 6:00PM-6:30AM

The successful candidate must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working as a Med Aide in a LTC setting. Additionally, they will be responsible for performing CNA duties when not administering medications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications to patients according to prescribed schedules and protocols.
  • Monitor patients for side effects or adverse reactions to medications and report findings to nursing staff.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation regarding medication administration and patient responses.
  • Assist in the development of individualized care plans that address the unique needs of each patient.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
  • Provide support and education to patients and their families regarding medication management and health maintenance.
  • Uphold strict adherence to safety protocols and regulations in all aspects of medication administration.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly in memory care, acute care, or hospice care is preferred.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology is essential for understanding patient needs and medication effects.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Cerner or Epic is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills for accurate medical documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team while also demonstrating independent judgment when necessary.
  • Compassionate demeanor with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
