Position Overview The Director of Retail Operations will oversee all aspects of the daily operations at Blessingdales Thrift Store. This leadership role requires a hands‑on, mission‑driven individual with strong retail experience and a heart for ministry. The ideal candidate is a servant leader who can manage staff and volunteers effectively, maintain operational excellence, and maximize revenue to support the mission of God’s Shelter of Love. Key Responsibilities Lead, supervise, and support a team of employees and volunteers in a Christ‑centered environment. Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts. Create, manage, and maintain staff and volunteer schedules to meet operational needs. Oversee daily store operations, ensuring an organized, clean, and welcoming environment for customers. Manage inventory flow, including donations, pricing, merchandising, and display. Develop and implement sales strategies to maximize revenue while honoring the ministry’s mission. Handle cash management, daily deposits, and financial reporting accurately. Monitor and analyze sales trends, making data‑driven decisions to improve performance. Resolve conflicts and address customer or volunteer concerns with grace and professionalism. Ensure compliance with organizational policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulations. Collaborate with leadership on marketing, outreach, and community engagement initiatives. Uphold and model the values and mission of God’s Shelter of Love in all interactions. Qualifications Minimum 3–5 years of retail management experience required (thrift store or nonprofit retail experience preferred). Strong leadership and team‑building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others. Excellent communication, organization, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment. Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and basic financial reporting. Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities. Commitment to Christian values and the mission of God’s Shelter of Love. Availability to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Physical Requirements Constant walking and standing, frequent bending, kneeling and reaching. Consistently lift 25–50 lbs; occasionally lift up to 50 lbs with the ability to push or pull more than 50 lbs.
