*Responsibilities of the Pathologist Assistant*:
* Receive and process surgical specimens for pathological analysis.
* Assist in the gross examination of tissues, describing gross anatomic features, dissecting surgical specimens, and obtaining pertinent clinical information.
* Collaborate with pathologists during autopsies, providing support in the examination and documentation of post-mortem findings.
* Prepare and assist with post-mortem dissections and organ examinations.
* Document and maintain accurate records of specimen processing and examination.
* Enter relevant data into laboratory information systems and assist in maintaining databases.
* Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of pathology laboratory equipment.
* Monitor and restock laboratory supplies as needed.
* Participate in quality assurance and quality control activities.
* Adhere to standard operating procedures and protocols to ensure accurate and reliable results.
* Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, pathologists, and laboratory staff to ensure efficient workflow.
* Communicate effectively with team members to discuss and clarify specimen-related issues.

*Applicant Requirements:*
* Master’s degree from a NAACLS-accredited Pathologist Assistant program.
* Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or eligibility to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
* Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a surgical pathology laboratory or anatomic pathology setting.
* Strong knowledge of human anatomy, pathology, and laboratory procedures.
* Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
