General Function The ideal candidate should possess the ability to design and architect customer solutions. The candidate should be technically competent in at least one (preferably two) technology areas of focus (Server, Virtualization, and Storage are preferred) where they will be required to lead an implementation and deployment team. Within your region you are viewed as the “go to” networking person and you are engaged whenever an opportunity requires your area of expertise. This position is expected to participate in client and prospect meetings as technical sales support and must communicate with both technical and business audiences. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Helping equip sales generalists with basic understanding of our solutions. Participate in sales presentations in a technological role, answering technical questions and offering solutions. Consultatively analyze a client's needs and determine the best solution for the prospect. Deliver short‑term billable engagements to analyze a client's environment and provide an assessment of needs and ROI of various solutions. Coordinate other technical resources as necessary. Find solutions with the optimum combination of hardware, software, and services to meet the prospect's needs. Play a key role in the development of the bid and proposal, and present the solution to the prospect. Develop the statement of work for the solution. Work with vendor partners to help drive business and deliver demand generation events. Maintain account relationships over time to continue to deliver advice to the client and identify additional opportunities. Maintain and manage a sales pipeline and forecasts against regional goals. Supervisory Responsibilities Ability to develop and maintain relationships with sales accounts. Individuals should have 5 years of sales engineer experience, preferably in the information technology marketplace. This position will provide technical support for sales, solution development and delivery. Physical and Mental Demands While performing the duties of this class, employees regularly require sitting, talking or hearing in person and by multi‑media, using hands to finger, handle, feel or operate standard office equipment, and reach with hands and arms. Employees frequently need to walk, stand and move about to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another. Must have ability to ascend and descend stairs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this class, employees regularly require effective written and oral communication skills, read and interpret data, information and documents, analyze and solve problems, use math and mathematical reasoning, learn and apply new skills and information, perform highly detailed work on multiple concurrent tasks, and interact with colleagues, clients and vendors. Specific incumbents must maintain composure in a fast‑paced, high‑quality environment where personal and team accountabilities are the defining factors. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time.
