Senior Laboratory Automation Engineer - Permanent - Durham NC
Proclinical is seeking a dedicated Senior Automation Engineer to join a cutting-edge team.
Primary Responsibilities:
This leading biotech firm is revolutionizing precision oncology with its advanced technology that allows for the rapid creation of patient-specific tumor models and this is an exciting opportunity to support the expansion of a state-of-the-art platform.
Skills & Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Biochemistry, or another related field.
- 5 years of working history in laboratory automation, with a strong focus on liquid handling automation.
- Proficiency in programming liquid handlers and experience with Venus software.
- Strong programming skills in C# or Python.
- Experience with various laboratory instruments and techniques, including high content imaging, flow cytometry, PCR, and cell culture.
- Demonstrated ability to design, develop, and implement flexible automated workflows.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with LIMS, database management (e.g., PostgreSQL), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS).
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for laboratory automation in the life sciences industry.
The Senior Laboratory Automation Engineer's responsibilities will be:
- Develop and refine automated processes for sample handling, assay execution, and data analysis using sophisticated liquid handling systems.
- Design and validate flexible liquid handling protocols to support a variety of experimental setups and evolving assay requirements.
- Create custom software applications in C# or Python to control laboratory instruments, manage data, and integrate with the existing platform.
- Seamlessly incorporate various laboratory instruments into automated workflows, ensuring efficient operation and data transfer.
- Regularly evaluate and enhance laboratory procedures to boost efficiency, minimize errors, and improve data quality.
- Work closely with scientists, engineers, and other team members to understand research objectives and translate them into innovative automation solutions.
