What to Expect Tesla's Quality Semi Engineering team is looking for a manager to provide Operational & Technical Leadership for quality engineers for our Powertrain production lines. In this role, you will build a world class quality team and process to enable Tesla to deliver safe and reliable powertrain vehicle components to drive the mission to accelerate the world's transition towards sustainable energy. This is a dynamic position where you work across several engineering groups, supply chain, production, commissioning, and service teams to proactively develop products and processes to be built right first time, and continuously improve them to meet customer expectations and profitability goals. What You'll Do Lead quality engineers to support production lines for site and build a network across factories to leverage good practices and continuous improvement Lead of quality improvement initiatives across suppliers, design, manufacturing, service and field quality Own Product Quality during its entire lifecycle, by implementing and sustaining Advanced Product Quality Planning practices, driving continuous improvement in field quality, production yield and supply chain of fabricated and purchased components Establish and meet clear quality metrics and objectives for site and vehicle business Drive professional problem solving to root cause and correct failures in production and the field Master and nurture a data driven team with advanced statistical, analysis and visualization skills Support a 24x7 global business with the needed sense of urgency to protect Tesla customers and business, while enabling work-life balance, commitment, and fun at work Develop and motivate a high performing team of exceptional engineers, supervisors and technicians to be proud to take place in Tesla's mission to transition the world towards sustainable energy Lead a quality assurance team of technicians, supervisors and engineers to support production needs, implementing consistent standard work and training, to ensure that all products meet specifications and quality issues are prevented or addressed immediately What You'll Bring Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Materials or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience 5+ years of experience of Quality leadership in manufacturing and/or designing new products for high volume operations 8+ years Automotive manufacturing experience Proven track record to build and lead a strong team in a 24x7 manufacturing environment Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Analysis, APQP and SixSigma tools and methodologies Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize in highly dynamic production environment Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines Ability to resolve quality issues with urgency on a 24x7 production environment, which require flexibility when the need arises.
