Introduction to Ticket Attendant

Ticket Attendant is a Chicago-based technology company pursuing opportunities in the live sports, theater, and concert marketplaces. Headquartered in Wicker Park, our mission is to build automated solutions for our client base of secondary market ticket sellers, as well as capitalize on market inefficiencies as a technology provider.

The events marketplace is ever-changing, and we embrace this complexity as an opportunity Our clients are ticket brokers, and our partners are secondary marketplaces (Stubhub, Vivid Seats, Ticketmaster). Both groups are exceedingly entrepreneurial, as are the members of the Ticket Attendant team who have excelled. TA facilitates approximately 3% of all secondary ticket sales in the US, and we’re looking for highly motivated individuals to help grow our market share. We’re currently a team of 40 people and are on track to continue doubling our size every 2 years.

About the Head of Engineering role

  • You will play a pivotal role in shaping and growing the technical capabilities and culture of our organization.
  • You will be tasked with expanding and building our technology team in tandem with TA’s growing market opportunity.
  • You will interact with senior leadership and project managers daily, in addition to managing our development team.
  • Our current engineering team consists of 5-7 C# and .NET developers, with a combination of local and remote arrangements. Being able to instill collaboration and best practices across different locales is a must.
  • Business continuity is paramount to our core product, and a good fit is someone who enjoys building new systems while incrementally improving old ones.
  • As a lean team, you will be asked to wear multiple hats. Firefighting, exchange migrations, and information security are examples of critical functions within the scope of this role.
  • Most days will be spent focusing on improving our core technology stack, but some days (and the most impactful ones) will be spent bending our tech to solve a problem it wasn’t designed to do.
  • You will be responsible for unifying different tools and codebases into a more scalable core product in the early days, and you will be relied upon for input to company strategy as you gain familiarity with the ticket technology landscape.
  • Management experience is desired, but strong individual contributors with an aptitude and desire to lead will be equally considered.

About you

  • Advanced skills in C#, .NET programming. Full-stack development experience is a plus.
  • 5+ years' experience contributing to the architecture and design (design patterns, reliability, scaling) of new and existing software
  • 5+ years' experience working with modern, distributed web applications (API design, microservices)
  • MVC, Web API, Entity Framework, ETL, MSSQL
  • Experience in project management, design and architecture of successful applications
  • Experience with technical recruiting

Additional Information

  • Industry experience is not necessary, but a plus.
  • Local hires only for this lead role. Our engineering team is utilizing a hybrid work model with two required in-office days per week. It is important to be comfortable commuting to our office in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago.
  • TA is a diverse workplace that is committed to inclusion. We offer our employees great health insurance, PTO, annual raises and other benefits.
