Principal Solutions Engineer (Full Stack, Legacy & Cloud Platforms) Join Unum, a Fortune 500 employee benefits provider, to drive digital transformation and deliver innovative technology solutions. Overview As a Principal Solutions Engineer, you will architect and lead full-stack engineering initiatives across legacy, modern cloud-native, and Salesforce platforms. You will influence technical strategy, mentor teams, and collaborate with product, business, and engineering stakeholders to build scalable, integrated solutions that meet evolving business needs. Job Specifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience. 10+ years of enterprise software development, with significant experience in Salesforce. 4+ years in a technical‑lead or solution architecture role, designing complex, multi‑system environments. Demonstrated experience working across legacy systems and cloud‑native environments. Technical Skills Full‑stack development (JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, React, Java/.NET, Python). Salesforce development (Apex, LWC, Visualforce) and API integration. Legacy architecture modernisation strategies. Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, Docker, Kubernetes. CI/CD pipelines, DevOps tooling, modern software delivery practices. Data modelling, ETL, and integration across diverse systems. Preferred Qualifications Salesforce certifications (Platform Developer II, Application Architect, System Architect). Cloud platform certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Architect). Agile methodologies and delivery team leadership. Primary Responsibilities End‑to‑end solution architecture across front‑end, back‑end, legacy, and cloud platforms. Technical leadership: mentor engineering teams and establish best practices. Cross‑functional collaboration with Product, Business, and Engineering teams. Solution delivery from planning through deployment, ensuring quality and performance. Technology agility: evaluate and adopt emerging technologies. Legacy modernization: architect and guide legacy system evolution.
