Work will be based out of TSS’s administrative office located in Newtonville, MA, as well as will require travel to and from events.Essential ServiceThe Second Step is considered an essential service organization. This position is designated as an essential employee who may be required to report to work during times when the Commonwealth declares a state of emergency or stay at home orders.Reports toDirector of Prevention EducationPrimary ObjectivesThe Second Step is a Massachusetts-based domestic violence organization dedicated to ending intimate partner violence and supporting survivors through advocacy, education, and community engagement. Our Prevention Education Department works to build safer communities by increasing awareness of healthy relationships, consent, boundaries, and upstander behaviors across diverse settings.The Prevention Outreach Coordinator plays a key role in expanding The Second Step’s prevention education reach and impact. This position has a dual focus:Outreach & Program Growth: Supporting the Director of Prevention Education in building and maintaining relationships with local and regional industries, businesses, schools, and community partners to increase awareness of intimate partner violence and prevention strategies.Workshop Facilitation: Delivering engaging, trauma-informed prevention education workshops on topics such as Domestic Violence 101, healthy relationships, communication, boundaries, and bystander/upstander intervention.This role requires strong organizational skills, excellent time management, and confidence in public speaking and group facilitation. Through outreach and administrative support, the Prevention Outreach Coordinator will help manage the prevention education calendar, maintain materials and inventory, and support the continued growth and sustainability of the program.Key ResponsibilitiesOutreach & Program SupportAssist the Director of Prevention Education in outreach to assigned industries, businesses, schools, and community organizations to increase prevention education engagement and visibility.Serve as an initial point of contact for assigned partners, providing information about The Second Step’s prevention education offerings and responding to inquiries in a timely and professional manner.Support relationship-building with new and existing partners through follow-up communication, scheduling, and coordination.Help identify new outreach opportunities aligned with program goals and community needs.Prevention Education CoordinationManage and maintain the prevention education calendar, including scheduling workshops, coordinating facilitators, and tracking engagements.Prepare for trainings and workshops by coordinating logistics, confirming locations or virtual platforms, and ensuring materials are ready.Maintain inventory of prevention education materials; track usage and submit requests for re-ordering as needed.Assist with data tracking and basic reporting related to outreach efforts, workshop delivery, and program growth.Facilitation & TrainingFacilitate prevention education workshops for a variety of audiences, including adults, youth, professionals, and community members.Deliver curriculum in a trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and engaging manner.Adapt facilitation style to meet the needs of diverse audiences while maintaining fidelity to approved curricula.Support evaluation efforts by collecting participant feedback and reflecting on facilitation effectiveness.Other Projects & ResponsibilitiesWork collaboratively with the Director of Prevention Education and other staff to support department goals and initiatives.Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.Represent The Second Step professionally at community events, meetings, and outreach activities.Other duties as assigned by agency leadership.QualificationsRequiredBachelor’s degree in social work, public health, education, communications, or a related field, or equivalent lived/professional experience.Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Comfort with public speaking and facilitating group discussions.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Commitment to social justice, violence prevention, and survivor-centered, trauma-informed approaches.A strong commitment to The Second Step’s mission and valuesCORI (Criminal Offender Record Inquiry) check following the first interviewSORI (Sexual Offender Record Inquiry) check following the first interviewAbility to travel within Massachusetts; valid driver’s license preferred.PreferredExperience working in domestic violence, sexual assault, public health, education, or related prevention fields.Previous outreach, community engagement, or partnership-building experience.Experience facilitating workshops or trainings with diverse audiences.Bilingual or multilingual skills.Core CompetenciesTrauma-informed and survivor-centered practiceStrong interpersonal and facilitation skillsOrganization, attention to detail, and follow-throughProfessionalism and reliabilityAbility to work independently and as part of a teamPhysical Demands & Work EnvironmentThe physical demands described here are representative ofthose that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this job.Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essentialfunctions. Employee may be required tohelp move small items up to 25 lbs.Salary and BenefitsTSS offers a competitive salary and benefits package to full-time employees. The starting pay rate for this position starts at $54,080, commensurate with experience. Additional compensation for language skills. Benefits include 3 weeks paid vacation, 13 paid holidays that fall on a regularly scheduled work day, 2 personal days, ample sick time, agency contribution to health, vision, and dental insurance, agency hosted 403(b) plan, Employee Assistance Plan, and student loan repayment contribution.
