Business Development Lead – Critical Infrastructure, Electric Utility MissionGO is seeking a Business Development Lead with experience in the Critical Infrastructure and Electric Utility sectors, specifically for Powerline Inspection. This individual will be instrumental in driving the growth and market expansion of our innovative powerline inspection solutions. They will be responsible for developing sales leads, cultivating strategic partnerships, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders within the power industry, and advising on strategic initiatives. This individual’s efforts will directly impact the adoption of our advanced technologies and play a crucial role in enhancing power grid reliability and safety. This position will report directly to the Director of Business Development. The position will be based out of our Baltimore, MD HQ office, but has remote work flexibility with a minimum of 20% travel requirements for business development activities. Business travel for opportunities is an essential function of this role and can increase or decrease in frequency as needed. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Sales Strategy : Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to achieve revenue targets and market penetration for MissionGO's powerline inspection solutions. Lead Generation : Identify and qualify leads through proactive prospecting, networking, industry events, and leveraging existing customer referrals. Client Engagement : Establish and nurture relationships with key decision-makers at utilities, energy companies, and government entities, understanding their specific needs and requirements related to powerline inspection/reliability. Product Presentations : Conduct compelling product presentations and demonstrations to showcase the benefits and capabilities of MissionGO's value proposition. Collaboration : Collaborate closely with the business development, engineering, and product teams to provide feedback from customers and contribute to the continuous improvement of our offerings. Business Strategy : Support the development and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to drive the adoption of MissionGO's powerline inspection solutions, aiming to achieve revenue targets and market leadership. Sales Reporting : Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer interactions, and progress toward targets using CRM software. Advisory : Advise the Director of Business Development & Strategy on initiatives. Cultural Profile: Must care about MissionGO’s mission. Appreciation and understanding of the startup culture. Team oriented. Humble and hungry. Self-motivated and takes initiative. Ambitious and determined mindset. Compassionate and ability to build and maintain relationships. Qualifications (Required): Bachelor’s degree in business, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Proven track record of at least 3 years in business development, sales, or a related role within the power industry, with specific experience in powerline inspection or critical infrastructure sectors. Ability to understand the power grid infrastructure, utilities, and energy industry dynamics/trends. Understanding of aviation operations within the critical infrastructure sector. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a diverse team. Willingness to travel as needed for business development activities – ~20%+ of the year. Must be comfortable driving company vehicle long distances (on occasion). Possess an FAA Part 107 certificate. If an applicant does not hold this certificate, they must be willing to obtain the certificate within 6 months of employment (guidance provided). Proficient in all major Microsoft Office software products Qualifications (Preferred): An MBA is a plus. Thorough understanding of power grid infrastructure, utilities, and energy industry dynamics/trends. A strong network and existing connections within the powerline inspection sector are highly desirable.
