Bassett Healthcare Network is an integrated health care system that provides care and service to people living in an eight-county region covering 5,600 square miles in Central New York. The organization includes five corporately affiliated hospitals, as well as skilled nursing facilities, community and school‑based health centers, and health partners in related fields. The Cooperstown area is a vibrant, diverse, and sophisticated upstate community set in a bucolic lake‑front village affording four seasons of culture and outdoor activity. Job Description & Responsibilities Join an established group of 5 ophthalmologists and 3 optometrists. Provide comprehensive eye care as a general ophthalmologist. Work alongside specialty colleagues in pediatric, retina, and glaucoma departments. Support staff includes ophthalmic technicians, LPNs, and RNs. On‑call duty every 5th weekend from Cooperstown; rarely busy. Attend outreach clinics, limited to one location each. Referral patterns to tertiary care ophthalmologists are well established. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $433,000–$525,000 plus performance‑based compensation. Incentive plan with no earnings cap; potential upside realized within the first year. Residency stipend up to $40,000 available up to 18 months prior to graduation. Sign‑on bonus up to $100,000. Group‑employed model. Visa sponsorship available – J‑1 and H‑1B candidates welcome. Job Requirements MD, DO, or MBBS. Board eligible or board certified. New York State licensure. BLS certification required. DEA number required. Benefits Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
