Base pay range Direct message the job poster from California Department of Motor Vehicles Talent Acquisition, Enrichment and Operations Final Filing Date: 11/26/2025 The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking an accomplished leader to serve as Chief of the Facilities Operations Branch within the Administrative Services Division. Under the general direction of the Deputy Director, this position leads statewide facilities strategy, overseeing major construction projects, long‑range planning, emergency response coordination, and capital outlay management that support the DMV’s mission and service delivery. This is a Career Executive Assignment (CEA) position — an opportunity to influence policy, shape the department’s statewide infrastructure strategy, and guide teams responsible for maintaining safe, efficient, and accessible facilities across California. Key Responsibilities Lead statewide facilities management, including leasing, maintenance, construction, and long‑term capital planning. Develop and implement policies for facility operations, environmental construction, emergency preparedness, and infrastructure sustainability. Oversee the Five‑Year Infrastructure Plan, coordinating with state control agencies for project funding and strategic priorities. Serve as the DMV’s representative with local, state, and federal officials on major facilities openings, closures, or relocation projects. Direct the department’s emergency preparedness and recovery programs, collaborating with Homeland Security, OES, and FEMA. Manage and inspire a multidisciplinary team, promoting leadership, professional development, and accountability. Desirable Qualifications Your Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must address the following: Experience managing a comprehensive facilities portfolio, including acquisition, maintenance, and lifecycle operations. Proven ability to advise and influence executive leadership on major initiatives and gain organizational buy‑in. Experience developing and aligning policies and procedures with strategic goals. Knowledge of California laws, regulations, and oversight processes governing real property assets. Experience in personnel management and leadership, including workforce planning, training, and performance management.
