New **JOB SUMMARY:** Under direct supervision, provides entry level technical support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental or traffic. **JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:** Under general supervision learns to assist in a variety of transportation engineering services. Trains to specialize in a particular area of emphasis within the area of assignment which may include working in both indoor and/or field setting. This is the entry/training level of the Engineering/Technology job series. Incumbents at this level may require additional training or experience to gain full proficiency in some or all of the job responsibilities. **TRT050 Transportation Tech 1 (PG: E) Survey Technician**

**Note: This position is a survey position, and working in extreme outdoor conditions is required** .

***MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS***

**STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:**

* High School Diploma/GED

**AGENCY SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**

* Required to take and pass the Engineering Technician test administered by the GA Dept. of Transportation.

* Ability to learn to perform routine engineering support duties for assigned program area (i.e. construction, surveying, traffic operations, lab testing or data collection)

* Ability to interpret manuals and instructions.

* Ability to learn to operate equipment and/or instruments as required

* Ability to assist in data gathering or collect data as requested

* Ability to lift 50lbs.

* Ability to walk 5 or more miles on uneven terrain.

* Commitment to providing quality customer service

*Good Employment Standing:*

In accordance with the Interview and Selection Process (ISP), an applicant must have no active disciplinary actions to be in good employment standing. Actions that may disqualify an applicant include letters of reprimand (active for 12 months after issuance date); suspension without pay or disciplinary demotion (active for 12 months from the effective date); Performance Improvement Plans (PIP) and Leave Restriction Plans (active until 12 months after the date of conclusion). In addition, an employee must have an overall ePerformance rating score of three (3) or higher on their most current evaluation. Please note that Memorandums of Concern are not considered disqualifying factors. Human Resources may remove any employee from consideration for selection who is pending a disciplinary action; however, if the action is resolved in the employees favor, he or she will be allowed to compete.
