The Patient Service Representative is responsible for assisting patients regarding all aspects of their clinic bills and health insurance claims. This role involves making and answering telephone calls, greeting patients positively, receiving and processing insurance claims, discussing payments and billing issues with patients, and handling various administrative tasks to ensure a smooth patient experience.

This role is full-time, non-exempt, with a Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm work schedule.

Responsibilities

The Patient Service Representative will make and answer telephone calls from patients and insurance companies regarding billing and payment arrangements. They will greet patients in a positive and friendly manner, ensuring a welcoming environment. Responsibilities include receiving and processing insurance claims information and forms, discussing payments, insurance questions, and billing problems with patients both in-person and over the phone.

The role involves speaking with patients about payments for elective services, processing Care Credit payments, arranging payments for self-pay patients, and handling financial statements and charity applications. Additionally, the Patient Service Representative will work on reports assigned by the Director, address corrections, monthly AMI adjustments, payroll deduction forms, and oversee assigned work queues. They will also establish contact with pre-OB patients to provide estimates for out-of-pocket expenses.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A high school diploma or GED is required, with six to twelve months of related experience and/or training preferred. The ideal candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong customer service abilities, and a detail-oriented approach.
