Team Overview:

Edward Jones is expanding the Data Stewardship team to better support the Enterprise Data Governance capabilities and resources. We lead the organization in maximizing the value, quality, trust and understanding of our data for the benefit of clients, advisors, and associates.
The Enterprise Data Governance Framework enables the firm to maximize the ability to generate value through its data in a structured, consistent, scalable and trusted manner.
The Data Steward III will proactively drive and contribute to the company's vision and data initiatives. In this role, you will promote the firm's commitment to clean, reliable and accurate data. By acting as a function of the firm's data governance framework you will ensure our data is cared for through its complete lifecycle, as an enterprise asset. Data Stewards partner across the firm to ensure data is created, managed and effectively utilized - which leads to understood, controlled and reliable data. You'll also define and implement data standards and resolution practices.

What You'll Do:
  • Serve as the primary business contact representative responsible for advancing data prioritized by the data Domain Owners through the firm's data certification framework. Responsibilities include the clear definitions of data, ensuring the correct usage and context of data, enforcing policy / security / privacy requirements and maintaining data quality and integrity within a respective business data domain and / or subject area.
  • Serve as the business contact representative, in partnership with Business Data Solutions, responsible for identification and definition of data in response to regulatory, legal, and audit requests and partner with technology delivery teams to ensure valid and controlled production of required data.
  • Oversee data lifecycle including operational and administrative management of data and overall data curation
  • Provide metrics on metadata descriptions from data sources to measure completeness of descriptions and compliance with metadata standards
  • Drive discussions on data definition, taxonomy and classification based on lineage and transfer / business transformation
  • Define and assist with implementing specific data quality requirements and present metrics documenting adherence and improvements to data quality rules
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of data classifications (e.g., retention, security classification, privacy, etc.)
  • Help identify metadata-related inconsistencies across business areas and frame resolutions
  • Implement, enforce, and demonstrate strong understanding of data standards and policies
  • Analyze data that does not align with requirements and recommends corrective actions
  • Lead discussions regarding quality, integration or reconciliation issues for implementation by Business Data Solutions or Digital Product Management teams
  • Partner with other members of the data stewardship community and represent the team in the Community of Practice
  • Partner with regulatory and compliance teams to analyze any impact from regulatory landscape changes
  • Communicate progress and risks with leadership, peers and vendors to provide effective interdepartmental and intradepartmental communication

The salary range for this role is based on national data and actual pay is based on skills, experience, education, and other relevant factors for a potential new associate:

Hiring Minimum: $81750
Hiring Maximum: $139194

Skills/Requirements

What Experience You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of education & experience is required with an emphasis in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering or MIS strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience directly related to Wealth Management / Financial Services industry, functional and / or technical area of expertise.
  • 4+ years experience in data management, data governance, data quality, master data management, and / or designing and implementing functional systems and data in a structured process preferred
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to establish and cultivate relationships with key partners
  • Excellent relationship management, interpersonal, collaboration and negotiation skills
  • Experience working with business teams / product management / platform teams to drive engagement
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to summarize complex information and concepts and clearly communicate up to senior leadership
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks / projects along with recurring responsibilities, and adjust to changing priorities with minimal leader input.
  • Ability to drive change and lead / influence others without formal authority
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations with self-motivation
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills and be decisive while working cooperatively with others
  • Preferred Experience interacting with various database and file storage systems (DB2, IDMS, Oracle, Hadoop, NoSQL), data manipulation language (i.e. SQL), and / or data visualization tools (i.e. Tableau, Power BI).
  • Data and business analysis skills, including strong documentation skills (technical writing a plus)

Candidates that live within in a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.
