**CDL Truck Driver Responsibilities:**

* Drives truck with a load capacity of more than three (3) tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations on and off company property.

* Transfers, loads, and unloads bulk liquid products.

* Prepares reports and maintains accurate records and logbooks in accordance with Federal and State regulations/standards and company policies.

* Provides customer support and builds relationships

* Performs emergency repairs.

**CDL Truck Driver Routinely:**

* Loads and unloads truck.

* Delivers gases and welding supply products safely and in accordance to local, state, federal regulations along with Matheson procedures.

* Organizes and prioritizes daily work distribution.

* Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations and prepares paperwork for load pick up.

* Develops and cultivates positive customer relations to support profitable account management.

* Communicates directly with the public and commits time to build and develop relationships.

* Provides customer feedback to management and sales representatives.

* Notifies and makes recommendations of customers special promotions.

* Completes and maintains daily paperwork and records such as manifests and records of deliveries for invoicing.

* Uses maps, GPS, road atlas or other geographical documents to plan trips and deliver products in a timely manner with minimum variance using the shortest, correct and legal routes available.

* Maintains telephone and/or radio contact with Supervisor to receive delivery instructions.

* Performs inspections of truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.

* Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire chains, and spark plugs as needed.

* Positions blocks and ties ropes around items to secure cargo during transit.

* Transfers loaded and unloaded liquid products which requires lifting and connecting hoses and fittings.

* Utilizes all material handling equipment safely and efficiently, performs all required safety checks and communicates need for repairs or maintenance.

* Uses math for measurement, tracking, and reporting

* Engages in writing emails, reports, and other pertinent documents relative to performing the job.

* Uses technology, software, and hardware to write reports and enter data.

* Works flexible schedules due to product schedule and direction changes often with irregular meals, irregular work/rest cycles.

* Reports defective materials or questionable conditions of products.

* Drives for extended periods of time.

* Hooks and unhooks trailers and secure valves, hatches and or fittings.

* Backs trailers and Class 8 vehicles into tight spaces on customers facilities.

* Accepts schedule and direction when there are changes in workloads.

* Attends safety huddles, mandatory safety stand-down meetings, and ongoing training sessions.

* Performs other job-related duties that may be as assigned as needed.

Requirements **Qualifications:**

* Minimum High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and five (5) year truck driving experience.

* Mandatory Valid Texas Commercial Drivers License (CDL), and a HazMat and Tanker Endorsement.

* Required to be able to wear a respirator, supplied air respirator, or self-contained breathing apparatus when necessary.

* Mandatory valid forklift operator certificate.

* Math abilities include:

* add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure

* complete basic common fraction calculations

* compute rate, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume

* convert gallons/grams/liters and pounds per gallon; and,

* Language, Writing, and Reasoning

**Must be proficient in the English language and able to:**

* read, write, and understand instructions

* interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

* speak effectively before groups of customers or Team Members

* understand the similarities and differences between words and between a series of numbers

* solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables

* interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule formats

* Address customers needs and specific requirements to resolve issues, responds to questions, and effectively presents information.

* Basic Computer Operating Skills required include both Word processing software and Spreadsheet software

**Physical Demand and Work Conditions:**

* Truck Drivers frequently:

* Engage in a high volume of walking, sitting, and standing as part of their daily schedule at ZXP.

* Climb ladders, balance in awkward positions while loading and unloading trucks, and ascend and descend from heights out of truck cabs.

* Bend, twist at the waist, neck, shoulders, wrists, repeatedly grip and grasp, and operate foot pedals.

* Stand, walk, climb or balance themselves as well as reach with their hands, arms, and feet

* Talks and listens.

* Lifts and/or moves up to fifty pounds.

* Occasionally:

* Sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use the sense of smell

* Lifts and/or moves more than 100 pounds.

* Specific vision abilities are required to perform this job. They include, but are not limited to distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

* All employees and contractors of ZXP are exposed to weather conditions consistent with the Texas region. Also, frequent exposure exposed to moving mechanical parts, machinery, and equipment, with the potential for electrical shock, and exposure to high noise levels typical of a manufacturing plant with occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.

* A mandatory Dress Code Policy applies to all employees and may be found in the Safety Training Manual and ZXP Employee Handbook.
