Research Coordinator at Boston VA Research Institute, Inc. (BVARI) Boston VA Research Institute (BVARI) is a Boston‑based epidemiology and biomedical research organization engaged in clinical trials, pharmacoepidemiology, chronic disease epidemiology, genetic epidemiology, biostatistics, and genomics research. Our multidisciplinary team includes researchers, clinicians, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, data analysts/programmers, research and project coordinators, and an informatics team with affiliations to Harvard Medical School and Boston University. We are seeking a service‑oriented Research Coordinator to interact with Veterans, recruit them into studies, and support data collection and analysis. The role offers the opportunity to work with the VA’s extensive clinical data archives and execute high‑impact projects using large‑scale real‑world healthcare data. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Identify and recruit potential study patients. Determine eligibility of potential study patients through review of medical history, chart, and laboratory data. Describe and discuss study protocols with potential patients. Provide patient education regarding study procedures. Obtain informed consent from study patients. Create study‑specific flow sheets and data forms for staff data collection. Coordinate the collection and processing of required samples (blood draws, tissue, etc.). Serve as primary contact and resource for study patients on study‑related issues. Abstract patient medical data for completion of case report forms. Maintain data integrity, confidentiality, and privacy of PHI and PII. Enter data into electronic case report forms or complete paper CRFs. Review and resolve data queries. Maintain study‑related documentation. Collaborate with Principal Investigator (PI) and research personnel to ensure data accuracy and project timelines. Inform PI of progress and potential problems. Work with study monitors to ensure protocol compliance and data accuracy. Prepare and clean study files for internal and external audits. Perform all regulatory tasks, including adverse event reporting to the IRB, initial submissions, continuing reviews, protocol amendments, consent form changes, and study closing notifications. Assist with budget preparation, statements of work, deliverables, and timelines. Collaborate with study team and BVARI staff to establish and follow trial administrative processes. Follow center standard operating procedures. Facilitate communication between operational teams. Qualifications and Entrance Requirements Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, epidemiology, public health, or related field. Relevant experience in clinical research, including conducting trials, working on protocols, and managing study data. Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, maintain detailed records, and meet deadlines. Capability to address and resolve issues that arise during research projects. Understanding of ethical guidelines and regulations related to clinical research, including Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Institutional Review Boards (IRBs), and HIPAA.
