Job Description : Summary The Senior Manager Environmental Engineering is responsible for ensuring that Ryder environmental projects are managed in compliance with all regulatory and Ryder requirements; and that both remediation and capital projects associated with Ryder's FMS fueling locations are managed to reduce risks, control costs and support business operation needs and growth initiatives. The position reports to the Director, Environmental Engineering and will supervise Project Engineers and Manager, Environmental Engineering staff, manage Company SPCC, Industrial Waste Water and Storm Water Management Programs and manage supplier relationships and associated services related to environmental consulting, contracting and laboratory services. In addition, this position will ensure that project engineering standards and practices incorporate all Ryder Accounting and financial reporting guidelines while also securing maximum benefit and recovery from State Trust Fund Reimbursement programs. Essential Functions The Business Growth and Cost Controls responsibilities include managing execution of the FMS 15-year Fuel Storage Tank Management Plan for select regions, providing direct project supervision to specific site projects, directing Project Engineers (PE) and Management staff for new fuel tank installations, upgrades and removals in accordance with Ryder and regulatory requirements, managing the Building Materials Assessment Program, performing Environmental Due Diligence for Ryder acquisitions, overseeing groundwater monitoring, site remediation projects, risks, and project financial details, designing installation of vehicle maintenance facility lubricant and compressed air systems, managing supplier qualifications and bidding processes, and overseeing repair and maintenance of Ryder fueling infrastructure to minimize long-term costs and extend useful life. Regulatory Compliance: remain current on environmental regulations to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local mandates; responsible for establishing guidelines for special programs such as Industrial Waste water, storm water, and SPCC. Operations Support: provide environmental technical support and solutions to the FMS field organization, supporting maintenance initiatives such as Future Fuel Island, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), automated self‑serve fueling, and alternative fuels. Risk Reduction: manage and perform Phase I & II Real Estate Environmental Site Assessments for Ryder’s due diligence, identify and manage environmental conditions for acquisitions, occupancies, and dispositions, and direct hazardous building materials assessment and abatement projects. Additional Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate and collaborate across multiple functional areas of the organization, at all levels. Required. Strong communication, organizational, and Office Word, Excel, and Project capabilities. Required. Confident and experienced in collaborating and interfacing with state/local environmental regulatory agencies. Required. Leadership skills to include enthusiastic mentoring and motivation of junior staff on Environmental Engineering and Environmental Services teams. Proven track record of building and motivating regional/national contractor, engineering, lab, and supplier project management teams to deliver cost effective, timely, and successful project results. Required. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in engineering, geology, environmental sciences, project management, or related fields. Required. 10 years or more experienced in managing site assessment and remediation project post UST removals. Required. 10 years or more in extensive experience in monitoring, troubleshooting, maintaining, upgrading, and replacing underground and above ground fuel tank systems and related infrastructure. Required. 10 years or more in progressive project management responsibility with emphasis on underground and above ground fuel storage and dispensing infrastructure in a regional or national operating environment. Required.
