Overview Assistant Store Manager at ALDI. Full‑time, 38 hours per week. Starting wage $26.50 per hour. Year 2 wage $27.50 per hour. Responsibilities Assists the direct leader with developing and implementing action plans to improve operating results. Establishes and communicates job responsibilities and performance expectations to direct reports. Identifies training and development opportunities for direct reports. Monitors the competitive environment and informs leader of adjustments to maintain competitive position. Provides product feedback and recommends new or discontinued items. Participates in interviewing and hiring store personnel. Communicates information including weekly, major milestones, developments, and concerns. Ensures store personnel adhere to inventory procedures, product handling guidelines, and cash control policies. Ensures an appropriate resolution of operational customer concerns in absence of direct leader. Identifies and rectifies hazards, maintains ergonomics, and keeps store equipment in working order. Maintains store cleanliness and proper signage. Assists in product ordering to maintain proper stock levels. Merchandises product neatly to maximize sales. Ensures product quality and freshness, and accurate signage. Assists with payroll, inventory counts, and training new employees. Supervises day‑to‑day operations of team and escalates issues to appropriate support. Ensures direct reports complete responsibilities timely to provide highest customer service. Complies with company policies and protects confidentiality of documents and data. Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands Ability to stock merchandise, lift up to 45 pounds, and place items at various heights. Regular standing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and walking around the store. Ability to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodations. Qualifications Minimum age 18 years. Work independently and within a team environment. Provide and lead prompt and courteous customer service. Develop rapport, trust, and open communication to enhance growth and performance of direct reports. Interpret and apply company policies and procedures. Establish goals and guide employee performance to ensure quality and completion of work assignments. Evaluate and drive performance of self and others. Apply management principles concerning budgeting, personnel costs, and expenses. Operate a cash register accurately and efficiently. Operate equipment safely and perform general cleaning duties to company standards. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Stay organized and multi‑task professionally and efficiently. Meet state and local requirements for handling and selling alcoholic beverages. Education & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum of 3 years progressive experience in a retail environment. A combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge. Prior management experience preferred.
