Base pay range $250,000.00/yr - $350,000.00/yr Summary The Central Texas Veterans Health Care System is seeking a Podiatrist (Clinical Director-North) with leadership skills who can lead the current clinical services and team. This position is located in Temple - Texas. Qualifications United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy Education: Degree of doctor of podiatric medicine - or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in podiatric medicine and surgery The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed Licensure or Registration: Applicants must possess a current - full - and unrestricted license to practice podiatry medicine or surgery in a State - Territory - or Commonwealth of the United States - or in the District of Columbia Residency Training: Podiatrists must have completed residency training - or its equivalent - approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. VA Podiatrists involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status. Approved residencies are: (1) Those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education - the Council on Podiatric Medical Education - in the list published for the year the residency was completed - or (2) Other residencies and training experiences - or their equivalents - which the local Professional Standards Board determines to have provided an applicant with appropriate professional training. Preferred Experience: Board Certified In Internal Medicine or Subspecialty. Three-to-five years of professional supervisory and leadership experience - preferably VA. Knowledge of regulations and preparation for accreditation surveys – e.g., Joint Commission, OIG, etc. Teaching experience Reference: For more information on this qualification standard - please visit https://www.va.gov/ohrm/QualificationStandards/ Physical Requirements: Moderate lifting 15-44 pounds; Use of fingers; Walking 4-6 hours; Standing 4-6 hours; Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; Ability to distinguish basic colors; Hearing (aid permitted). Duties Supervisory Physician (Clinical Director) for Primary Care Service: The incumbent will supervise providers comprising as Primary Care Aligned Teams (PACT) providing Primary Care services to approximately 30-000 Veterans. The incumbent leads physicians and non-physician providers at the assigned Site and works in close collaboration with leaders of other clinical Services to ensure timely and high-quality service to our Veterans. Reports to the Deputy Associate Chief of Staff (DACOS) for Ambulatory Care and works very closely with the Associate Chief of Staff for Ambulatory Care. Timely access to care, including face-to-face appointments, is of prime importance; successful implementation of the PACT model of care would be one of the major tasks of the incumbent. Provide comprehensive primary care for our Veteran population including obtaining patients histories, performing physical exams, formulating a working diagnosis, and developing and implementing a treatment plan according to clinical guidelines. Ensure high quality care and outpatient performance measures. Participate in top level decisions that impact functional areas under his/her oversight through collaborations with Executive leadership. Consult with other health care providers to provide training and mentoring and to be directly involved with the evaluation of medically complex patient care problems. Participate in planning, budgeting, and evaluation of the primary care programs. Participate in administrative, management, quality assurance and other requirements activities – meetings or committees as necessary or assigned. Provide direct clinical care either in person or by Telehealth. Coordinate onsite teaching to medical students and residents; nurse practitioner students and residents. Foster an academic environment and primary care. VA experience preferred; board certification in internal medicine preferred.
