This position is located in Temple - Texas.Qualifications Basic RequirementsUnited States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA PolicyEducation: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicineThe degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completedLicensure and Registration: Current - full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State - Territory - or Commonwealth of the United States - or in the District of ColumbiaResidency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training - approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification(NOTE: VA physicians involved in academic training programs may be required to be board certified for faculty status.) Approved residencies are: Those approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) - b) OR Those approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) -OR Other residencies (non-US residency training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States) - which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiencesResidents currently enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited residency training programs and who would otherwise meet the basic requirements for appointment are eligible to be appointed as "Physician Resident Providers" (PRPs)PRPs must be fully licensed physicians (i.e. - not a training license) and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee-basisPRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not be privilegedrather - they are to have a "scope of practice" that allows them to perform certain restricted duties under supervisionAdditionally - 15-44 poundsUse of fingersWalking (4-6hours)Standing (4-6hours)Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the otherAbility to distinguish basic colorsHearing (aid permitted).DutiesCentral Texas Veterans Health Care System (CTVHCS) is seeking a Supervisory Physician (Clinical Director) for Primary Care ServiceThe incumbent will supervise providers comprising as Primary Care Aligned Teams (PACT) providing Primary Care services to approximately 30 -000 VeteransThe incumbent leads physicians and non-physician providers at the assigned Site and works in close collaboration with leaders of other clinical Services to ensure timely and high-quality service to our Veterans.The incumbent reports to the Deputy Associate Chief of Staff (DACOS) for Ambulatory Care and works very closely with the Associate Chief of Staff for Ambulatory CareTimely access to care - including face-to-face appointments - is of prime importance and the successful implementation of the PACT model of care would be one of the major tasks of the incumbentThe incumbent will also provide comprehensive primary care for our Veteran population including obtaining patients historiesperforming physical examsformulating a working diagnosisand developing and implementing a treatment plan according to clinical guidelinesThe incumbent is responsible for ensuring high quality care and is responsible for outpatient performance measuresParticipates in top level decisions that impact functional areas under his/her oversight through collaborations with Executive leadershipResponsible for consulting with other health care providers to provide training and mentoring and to be directly involved with the evaluation medically complex patient care problemsParticipates in the planning - budgeting - and evaluation of the primary care programsParticipates in administrative - management - quality assurance - and other requirements activities - meetings - or committees as necessary or assignedProvides direct clinical care either in person or by Telehealth.The Clinical Director will coordinate onsite teaching to medical students and residents - nurse practitioner students and residentsIn addition to direct teaching responsibilities - as a leader of the physicians - the incumbent is expected to foster an academic environment and primary careVA experience would be preferred as would be board certification in internal medicineWork Schedule: Monday-Friday (8:00 a.m- 4:30 p.m.) VA offers a comprehensive total rewards packageVHA Physician Total RewardsRecruitment/Relocation Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Authorized Pay: Competitive salary -
