Overview Workers' Compensation Claim Consultant Location: Overland Park, KS Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM Work Arrangement: Hybrid after initial training (60‑90 days); contingent on performance and attendance. Work Environment: Manageable caseloads and resources for success. Responsibilities Investigate, evaluate, and adjust claims per standards and laws. Establish and recommend reserves within authority limits. Review medical, legal, damage estimates; negotiate disputed bills. Authorize and make payments using the claim payment program. Negotiate settlements per client instructions and state laws. Assist in selecting, referring, and supervising outside vendors. Assess subrogation claims. Maintain personal diary on claim system. Client satisfaction. Prepare reports on claim status, payments, and reserves. Compute disability rates per state laws. Coordinate communication with clients, claimants, and parties. Prepare newsletter articles. Provide notices to excess/reinsurance carriers. Handle complex claims with minimal supervision. Conduct claim reviews and training sessions. Attend hearings, mediations, and informal legal conferences. Ensure compliance with corporate standards. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Five or more years of claims experience (required). Bachelor's degree preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Adjuster's license may be required by jurisdiction. Physical Demands Stoop, bend, reach, and grasp with arms and hands. Sit or stand up to 7.5+ hours at a time. Sufficient auditory and visual acuity.
