Job Summary and Qualifications

Perform direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.

* Use therapeutic communication in daily practice.
* Maintain a safe and therapeutic Intensive Care environment.
* Implement and direct care, using the nursing process with emphasis on the needs of individual ACC patients.
* Evaluate the effectiveness of the nursing process.
* Provide emotional support of the patient and significant others to make informed choices regarding health care.
* Promote a supportive environment that treats patients and families with dignity, respect and appreciation of their lifestyle, religion and culture.
* Maintain high quality, age specific care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients as assigned.
* Delegate tasks to the appropriate caregiver.
* Participate in Cardiovascular Department specific initiatives and process improvement.
* Provide supervision of new employees, patient care assistants, nurse technicians, student nurses, and / or nurse interns.
* Support the mission, vision, and values of the organization
* Other duties as assigned

What qualifications you will need:

* Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date
* Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS provider.
* ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
* Current RN license in the State of Texas or compact license
* Will take Associate Degree or Bachelors Degree in Nursing . IF ADN must get BSN within 24 months of hire date into RN position
* Minimum 1 year Experience Required
* Experience with high acuity ICU medical / surgical patients is preferred.


* Level 2 Competencies:


* •Graft vs Host disease identification and management
* Management of Cellular Therapy Complications
* Tumor Lysis Syndrome Identification/Oncologic
* Infection prevention - neutropenic patients
* Administration of blood products
* Chemotherapy/Biotherapy administration and management (Certification)
* Disease knowledge (leukemias, lymphomas, general blood dyscrasias)
