Position Summary The Technical Assistance Business Advisor is responsible for providing business counseling and training programs to individuals, businesses, communities, and other entities in their assigned geographic territory, with a specific focus on financial management, bookkeeping, basic accounting, and capital formation. The Business Advisor will be responsible for managing multiple projects that include sourcing and driving both group and one‑on‑one client engagements as well as networking and developing relationships with community partners. Multi‑county travel may be involved. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Broad base of business knowledge. Excellent analytical skills, with a level of proficiency in the areas of financial management, basic accounting, or lending. Effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. Physical Demands Sitting for long periods of time. Lift/carry up to 30 lbs. Multi‑county travel. Driving as needed to perform job duties. Duties/Responsibilities Provide individual instruction to entrepreneurs, business owners, business managers, and others on understanding legal issues related to their enterprise, developing the accounting and record‑keeping capabilities necessary for running their business, and helping them with the evaluation and pursuit of financing options best suited for growth – including completing applications for State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) related funding. Develop and deliver business‑training programs that are responsive to the needs of the business community served. Generate curriculum for business programs, seminars, conferences, etc. Help local field offices determine topics, agendas, instructors, and instructional materials. Serve as an instructor or facilitator for these programs. Evaluate programs’ effectiveness and make necessary modifications. Document activities via Unity in a timely, accurate, and comprehensive manner. Collect and transmit consolidated Unity data. Maintain adequate client files as per SBDC guidelines. Perform all responsibilities efficiently and effectively within assigned division. Ensure that administrative policies are followed, that programs are innovative and responsive, and that top quality services are delivered. Utilize client and management feedback in striving for continuous improvement. Maintain positive and professional relationships with other institutions. Percentage of Time for Duties 70% for first set of duties. 10% for second set. Remaining percentage distributed among additional duties.
