Dredge Utility Person

Martin Marietta is hiring for a Dredge Utility Person to be responsible for the safe operation of a clamshell dredge and support equipment at Irwindale, CA Sand and Gravel Quarry.
This is a full-time position that regularly requires long hours, overtime and weekend work.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for operating a variety of equipment utilized in dredge mining
- Perform daily Pre/Post shift inspection of vehicle and work area
- Perform pre-shift safety inspection on equipment and report needed repairs to the supervisor
- Perform repairs and routine maintenance on dredge equipment
- Observe visual and auditory signals during vehicle operation
- Experience with water craft, john boats, cables, pipeline & diesel engines.
- All other duties as assigned
- Able to operate dredge and complete maintenance as needed
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems and ability to weld a plus
- Able to work cooperatively with others toward a shared goal, contribute actively to the team efforts, and possess a positive attitude in working with others as a team
- Possess effective coordination and communication skills
- Possess strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge and skills
- Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to perform duties with minimal supervision
- Able to work varying shifts as needed, outdoors, in varying weather conditions
- Able to adhere to MSHA guidelines and plant safety rules and regulations
- Able to ensure a safe work environment by prioritizing safety, then quality, followed by production
- Swimming skills a plus

The work environment for this position consists of being outdoors daily with summer and winter temperature changes. The position can range from being on land working out of a truck to being on our lake working off a boat or floating conveyors.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position
- Experience in the maintenance and operation of mobile equipment and/or equipment used processing plants
- Preferred 3-5 years of mining experience

Salary Posting:
We are excited to share the base range for this position is $26.00-$42.00, exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base hourly compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The posted range for this role represents the total reasonable pay range and does not solely represent a hiring range. Therefore, hiring at the top or maximum of the range should not be expected as it would not allow for salary growth opportunities in the role, would diminish promotion value, and may not align with internal equity. In addition to our base compensation, we also offer a competitive benefits package for full time employees (more information on benefits listed below).
