Cleveland Area Hospital is an independent, self-managed Critical Access Hospital half an hour west of Tulsa, Oklahoma. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Clinic Provider, the LPN serves as the clinical support to the physician and advance practice providers in the clinic. Skill set utilizes nursing process and practiced based on established standard of nursing. Delivers a positive patient experience through the efficient medical data gathering, accurate medial record documentation and efficient follow through of care plan. The Medical Assistant reports directly to the Clinic Practice Manager.
- Accurately dispenses and charts medications ordered by physicians and nurse practitioners.
Accurately performs a variety of testing, including audiometry, vision testing, EKGs, and spirometer. - Administers medications orally or by intramuscular or intradermal injections to patients through the life span.
- Assists physicians, nurse practitioners or physician assistance with specialized procedures (i.e., Norplant and IUD insertion or removal, biopsies).
- Correctly assesses patient's vital signs, anthropometric measurements, and charts them accurately.
- Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
- Monitors medical supplies and stock medications, and stock treatment rooms.
- Performs certain laboratory tests including urinalysis dipstick, urine pregnancy tests, and hematocrits and others as defined by clinic.
- Reviews laboratory results and refers all abnormal results to the correct provider.
- Triages patient phone calls for minor health problems and refers complicated illness to registered nurse, nurse practitioners, and physicians.

PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Reviews laboratory results and refers all abnormal results to the correct provider.
- Triages patient phone calls for minor health problems and refers complicated illness to registered nurse, nurse practitioners, and physicians.
- May set up rooms for patients and/or procedures
- May take patient into room and perform and document initial patient interview
- Performs clerical duties as needed
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Graduate of an approved school of Licensed Practical Nursing required
2 years LPN physician office experience preferred
Ability to work in an automated environment required. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to keep accurate records.
Thorough knowledge of practical nursing theory.
Knowledge of standard practices, rules, and regulations related to licensed practical nursing.
Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, aseptic technique.
Ability to deal with a variety of patients, staff, health care providers, and community representatives.
License or Certification Requirements:
Current license to practice as a licensed practical nurse in the State of Oklahoma

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to lift 20 lbs. using appropriate body mechanics techniques. Utilizes good hearing, vocal and visual skills. Occasionally requires bending and stretching. Pushing and pulling. May be exposed to communicable diseases.
