The person in this role will need to feel passionate about working with animals, enjoy and excel at organization, and support and maintain a clean, safe and compliant working environment. We are seeking someone that is hardworking, shows attention to detail, takes initiative, has a teamwork mentality and positive attitude.

Starting Rate: $18 / hour

Responsibilities
  • Cares for animals including feeding, cleaning and breeding responsibilities
  • Follows protocol to ensure the health and welfare of the animals in care
  • Coordinate order details to include selection, packaging and confirming accuracy
  • Keeps accurate records of breeding, feeding, cleaning and care of animals
  • Maintains responsibility for sanitation of the animal buildings, cages and support areas
Qualifications
  • Must be willing and able to work with/handle rodents
  • Effectively work with peers, leadership, and stakeholders in a productive collaborative environment.
  • Ability to understand and comply with confidentiality and privacy rules
  • Able to follow sterile entry procedures and maintain neat, clean and safe conditions.
  • Must be available to work weekends/ holidays on a rotating basis
  • Willingness to work overtime when needed
  • Ability to push, pull, lift 40 pounds unassisted.
  • Stand / walk for extended period of time.
  • Often climb step ladders; bend, stoop, kneel while reaching, pulling and pushing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; must be able to relate complex concepts in a concise and easy to understand manner.
  • Fine manipulation includes handle touch object or tools and ability to handled controls to perform work.

Preferences

  • 1+ years of experience in Animal Care
  • Degree / Certifications Preferred ALAT or relative certification

This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and/or education level.
