Middle School Head Boys' Lacrosse Coach (rev.10292025) Ensworth School Ensworth is a kindergarten through twelfth grade independent, coeducational school that fields 18 TSSAA varsity sports (and multiple JV sports) in addition to Swimming & Diving, Lacrosse, Mountain Biking, Cheer, and Ice Hockey. The School is seeking a Middle School Boys’ Lacrosse Head Coach who will uphold Ensworth’s vision statement of “a school community dedicated to following the highest principles with the greatest love, as characterized by moral integrity, intellectual vitality, discipline, compassion, humor, and joy.” The coach must be self‑motivated, communicate clearly, continuously learn about the sport, love coaching and teaching, and be committed to building a strong program in both the high school and middle school. This position is part‑time and reports to the Athletic Director. Key Responsibilities And Essential Functions Abide by Ensworth’s Employee Handbook and Code of Conduct Commit to the ideals expressed in Ensworth’s Mission Statement, Vision Statement, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement Demonstrate a commitment to competitive excellence and mentor students within a vigorous academic environment Manage human resources within the Boys’ Lacrosse program, ensuring internal accountability and external collaboration, integration, and advocacy In collaboration with the Athletic Director, manage all aspects of the Middle School Boys’ Lacrosse program Prioritize the well‑being of student‑athletes by adhering to TSSAA health and safety regulations and partnering with the Sports Medicine team Assist in hiring and training a coaching staff Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications / Experience A bachelor’s degree is required Prior head‑coaching experience, demonstration of program design, and a record of winning are required Basic computer and technology competency is required Well‑developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including effective communication with all constituents in a school environment, are required Personal characteristics such as adaptability, honesty, self‑reliance, teamwork, dependability, flexibility, willingness to listen and learn, work ethic, determination, persistence, problem‑solving skills, loyalty, and congeniality are essential Successful completion of background screening and verification is required Participation in continued education programs as required by grade level or position; training may occur outside normal working hours or during summer months Physical Requirements And Work Environment Regularly work in team practice/game environment and traditional office setting Must be able to visually observe students from various distances Frequently required to physically move for extended periods; must lift and move team equipment Must occasionally work in a stressful environment, meet deadlines, and maintain stamina and excellent attention to detail Ability to work flexible hours This position is located on the Red Gables Campus at 211 Ensworth Ave. Employees must be physically present on campus with limited exceptions; remote work may be approved under extraordinary circumstances or with written prior approval Application Requirements Qualified candidates should complete an online application and attach a cover letter, résumé, and a statement of coaching philosophy.
