TWS addresses climate change, biodiversity loss, and inequities accessing the benefits of nature, and works to achieve four major results: protecting 30 percent of America’s lands and waters by 2030, transitioning to renewable energy on public lands, securing equitable access to public lands, and building broad support for conservation.ABOUT THE POSITIONThe Institutional Giving Manager is part of a three-person team responsible for securing financial resources from institutional funders to achieve organizational revenue goals. Reporting to the Senior Director for Institutional Giving, this role manages a portfolio of existing funders, identifies new funding opportunities, and handles key processes for the team. This position supports an inclusive culture grounded in trust and accountability to shared goals and outcomes, and will integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion priorities throughout fundraising work. The team aspires to be campaign oriented, nimble, collaborative, innovative, transparent, and supportive of staff.Manage a portfolio of institutional funders and prospects. Develop meaningful touch points, execute donor engagement plans, track deadlines, prepare proposals and reports, and maintain donor files and the donor database of record (Revolution Online/ROI).Research new institutional funding opportunities and collaborate on cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for new prospects.Collaborate with other fundraisers, program staff, finance, and the executive team to advance funder relationships. Prepare talking points, presentations, agendas, and other donor meeting materials.Support donor stewardship processes, including coordination with the Giving and Impact Operations & Outreach Team and the President’s Office on events, donor updates, annual reports, and acknowledgement letters.Coordinate with the Giving and Impact Operations & Outreach Team to manage revenue budgeting, pipeline reporting, and donor record maintenance in the donor database.Perform other related duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONSExperience and CompetenciesThe ideal candidate will have all or most of the following:Minimum five years of professional experience, including three years in a fundraising setting and at least two years working with foundation donors.Experience writing and editing successful grant proposals, concept papers, letters of inquiry, and reports, and developing budgets and financial reports for foundations and/or government agencies.Excellent writing and editorial skills, with the ability to understand, interpret, synthesize, and present complex programmatic information compellingly to donors, while adhering to donor guidelines and requirements. Ability to tailor messages to the audience.Working knowledge of ROI (or other fundraising databases) for historical recordkeeping and donor cultivation planning and moves management.Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.Proven ability to manage the donor relationship development process from research to grant. Experience with government grantmaking or as a major gifts officer is an asset, as is experience fundraising with board members or volunteers.Track record of effective teamwork with diverse talents, backgrounds, and perspectives.This job description is intended to convey information essential to understanding the scope of this position and is not intended to be an exhaustive list of experience, skills, duties, responsibilities, or working conditions.The location for this position is Washington, DC and will be a hybrid schedule of work from home and office time.
