The SPLC is seeking a Senior Manager, Institutional Giving who is passionate about advancing social Justice

The Senior Manager of Institutional Giving is responsible for identifying, stewarding and securing funding from institutional donors, such as private foundations and corporations. This role will travel approximately 30% of the time.

Who You Are

Results-Driven.
Proven track record of soliciting and closing major institutional gifts, growing a fundraising program and being able to balance big-picture thinking with attention to detail. Skilled in follow-through while working in a fast-paced environment that is deadline driven.

Strategic.
Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for each institutional giving donor. Knowledge of evolving trends in foundation and corporate fundraising and ability to translate those into strategic and actionable goals.

Collaborative.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Skilled at working with programmatic staff to identify appropriate matches between their goals and funders priorities.

Articulate & Influential.
Highly skilled in verbal and written communication, including the ability to make persuasive and effective presentations and writing and editing grant proposals.

Resourceful.
Ability to identify, research and cultivate prospective institutional donors, while managing and building a portfolio of institutional donors.

People-Manager.
Experienced with hiring, training, establishing and monitoring staff performance and development goals, assigning duties, and conducting performance reviews.

Demonstrates an understanding of and a commitment to SPLC's mission, vision and values.

What You'll Do

Establish
a clear vision and strategy that enables SPLC to maintain and grow its institutional donor portfolio while working under the supervision of the Director of Major Gifts and Institutional Giving.

Write, edit
, and prepare
high-quality, compelling grant proposals and reports for institutional funders, including corporate donors and private foundations, working closely with the Director and SPLC's programmatic staff.

Manage
a staff of three using SMARTIE (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Timescale, Inclusion and Equitable) objectives and provide coaching and mentorship to support the work.

Provide
operational assistance to the broader team by supervising two support staff (part of the three staff mentioned above).

Liaise
with program, communications, and monitoring and evaluation departments to digest and present programmatic impact in a compelling fashion.

Maintain
systems for prospecting and cultivating donors as well as recording grant deliverables through effective tracking and managing of donor relationships.

Develop
and implement strategies and goals for fundraising from foundations and other prospects for institutional grants.

Minimum Qualifications
We are committed to equitable hiring practices, therefore you must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for the role.

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in development/fundraising in a non-profit organization; experience working with institutional funders preferred;
  • Minimum of 3 years' management experience; and
  • High school diploma or GED.

Compensation & Benefits
This is an exempt role and the minimum starting salary is
$129,129
annually. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Where & How You'll Work

This role the following work designations options:

  • Local Remote: Will work remotely, but is expected to attend work-related activities that occur at the SPLC offices or in the states in which the SPLC operates.
  • Telework: Will work at an SPLC office at least three days per week and may work two days per week from an alternative work location.
  • Distant Remote: Will work remotely and are not expected to work in the states in which the SPLC has an office or in an SPLC office. They may be required to attend occasional meetings or activities in the states in which the SPLC has an office or elsewhere.
  • This role will report to the Director of Major, Mid-Level and Institutional Giving.

Other Special Considerations

This job is performed under general office conditions and is not subject to any strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions.

This role is expected to travel approximately 30% of the time.
