Certified Peer Specialist Mental Health Practitioner Central Minnesota Mental Health Center (CMMHC) is seeking a proven leader to serve as the Certified Peer Specialist in the St Cloud area. This position is responsible for providing individual peer support and group services for individuals with serious mental illnesses and individuals in recovery for substance use disorders who receive services under the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). What Is Peer Support Non-clinical specialists provide support and hope to individuals by sharing their stories and serving as role models for wellness. Certified Peer Support Specialists have the lived experience of someone with a mental or chemical illness and, from that perspective, help you discover your strengths and develop your own recovery goals. The specialist’s personal story and path to recovery provide tools, skills, and information to share with those going through similar struggles. CMMHC’s Certified Peer Specialists work with individual clients and groups to build practical skills for daily living, emotional wellness, and community integration. Duties And Responsibilities Work with providers, staff, and community to improve both physical and mental health for individuals and families. Assess, refer, and monitor progress toward achieving goals in the overall health of individuals and families. Provide one-on-one peer support focused on behavior changes to improve quality of life. Empower individuals with skills to engage in the management of both physical and mental health. Document interactions and interventions as directed. Follow all mandated reporter guidelines and review suspicious concerns with supervisor.
