Bubble’s 70+ engineers work across key areas including AI, Platform, and Product Development. Our engineers work closely with Product, Design, and Success, to rapidly deliver improvements and build for impact.About The RoleAs VP of Engineering at Bubble, you’ll report to the Co-CEO, partnering closely with our VP of Product to define and deliver on our ambitious roadmap. You’ll lead our Engineering team through a period of rapid growth, AI-driven innovation, and deep product investment - while upholding high standards for quality, performance, and reliability. As Bubble enters a pivotal phase of growth, you’ll help define and deliver our roadmap, serve on the Leadership Team, and represent Bubble as an executive.In This Role, You'llPartner with our founders to define and drive Bubble’s architectural decisions, long-term engineering strategy, and technical roadmap.Lead efforts to evolve the Bubble language as the default output for AI-generated apps and launch our own “vibe no-coding” features. You'll also scale our hosting platform, improve the performance of user-built applications, and enhance the UX, reliability, and speed of our cloud-hosted visual editor.Drive talent acquisition and retention in close collaboration with our People team.Build a world-class engineering culture that prizes innovation, quality, and velocity.Balance customer needs, compliance requirements, and business objectives.Collaborate across departments, working with product, marketing and success.About YouPrior VP Engineering or CTO experience at a venture-backed startup, with strong tenureExperience scaling through growth phases (100–500 person companies a plus)Proven track record of modernizing legacy systems and evolving technical architectureDeep experience with complex technical products—especially platforms, IDEs, or developer toolsOperated in companies with strong engineering cultures (e.g., open-source contributions, active tech blogs, cutting-edge projects)Technical aptitude to manage tradeoffs, lead through ambiguity, and learn fastHigh-velocity, execution-oriented leadership style with a commitment to qualityNYC-based or willing to relocate, with the ability to contribute to our office culture and in-person collaborationCompensationWe offer competitive compensation aligned to tier one markets. Our estimated salary for this role at Bubble ranges from $250,000 - $330,000. Actual pay is determined by multiple factors such as skills, qualifications, experience and market demand.We prefer hiring people within commuting distance of our NYC office because we value getting together in person regularly.
