Department Overview

 

PG&E's Business Finance team provides critical financial support to its operational Business Partners within the company. This support includes financial analysis; budgeting, planning, and forecasting; monitoring, controlling, and accounting; operational performance reporting and analysis; and strategic planning and analysis. These services are critical to achieving the company's strategic, operational, and financial objectives.

 

The Business Finance department provides a unique environment for energized and talented finance professionals to engage in the business as valued functional advisors, make meaningful contributions to the direction of a dynamic business, and be actively developed and recognized.

  

Position Summary

 

This role will serve as an Expert Financial Business Analyst supporting the Business Plan Deployment (BPD) process to develop multi-year forecasts. You will support the Gas Operations organization which is responsible for all aspects of PG&E’s gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration, and emergency response. You will as a strategic finance partner for Gas aiding with planning, budgeting, and ad hoc analysis.

 

The role is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office 1x a week generally and based on business needs.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

 

Bay Area Minimum:             $114,000

Bay Area Maximum:            $182,000

 

Core Job Responsibilities

 

  • Develop, advise, and integrate the business unit financial plans and performance baselines to meet the Company's long term operational and financial objectives.
  • Lead system planning process for labor and outer year strategic investment plans
  • Conduct Ad-hoc analysis as necessary  

Other Job Responsibilities

  • Process Optimization: Identify, and evaluate key processes for opportunities in effectiveness, control, and efficiency, and recommend and implement improvements.
  • Tools: Provide active engagement on the evaluation, design, and use of our critical functional toolset.
  • Governance: Implement and maintain functional governance standards and provide feedback on areas of opportunity.

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

  • 5 years of related work experience (business, mathematics, statistics, engineering - based)
  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, business, finance, other quantitative discipline, or relevant work experience

  • PG&E Business Finance Experience
  • Strong Excel modeling and PowerPoint skills
  • Intellectual curiosity, and relentless continuous improvement
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and quantitative skills
  • Experience working within utility industry
  • Working knowledge of SAP R3, SAP BW
  • Master’s degree in finance, engineering, economics, business, or related field
