Department Overview

 

PG&E's Business Finance team provides critical financial support to its operational Business Partners within the company. This support includes financial analysis; budgeting, planning, and forecasting; monitoring, controlling and accounting; operational performance reporting and analysis; and strategic planning and analysis. These services are critical to achieving the company's strategic, operational, and financial objectives.

  

This role will be placed within the Business Finance organization supporting the entirety of Gas Operations, a high performing, fast paced organization redefining the functional value proposition through engaged, innovative, and actionable insight.

 

Position Summary

 

The Senior Business Finance Analyst provides operation finance support for Gas Operations and LOB leaders within a governance structure that guides business decisions, capitalizes on investment opportunities, reduces costs, and enhances operational effectiveness. You will work as part of a team to provide recommendations for decision making in regulatory, financial, and operational functions for Gas Operations. This role will serve as the financial backbone for regulatory filings, provide data request support and multi-year planning strategy defense.

 

The role is hybrid working from your remote office and in-person at the Oakland General Office 1x a week generally and based on business needs.

 

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.​ This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.

 

A reasonable salary range is:​

 

Bay Area Minimum:             $98,000

Bay Area Maximum:            $146,000

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Regulatory: Serve as the financial SME for regulatory filings, data request support, and multi-year planning strategy defense
  • Process Optimization: Identify, and evaluate key processes for opportunities in effectiveness, control, and efficiency, and recommend and implement improvements
  • Tools: Provide active engagement on the evaluation, design, and use of our critical functional toolset
  • Governance: Implement and maintain functional governance standards and provide feedback on areas of opportunity
  • Presents findings and makes recommendations to management or others within organization
  • Works with others on the analysis and validation of the 3- and 5-year planning results
  • Works on moderately complex problems that require in depth analysis and judgment to obtain results or solutions
  • Communicates (oral and written) recommendations and findings to leaders and officers
  • Performs complex quality assurance on data to ensure accurate data is used in reports, and resolve issues as needed

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum:

 

  • 3 years of related functional experience (business, mathematics, statistics, engineering - based)
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Business, Finance, other quantitative discipline or relevant work experience
